Fashion

I have always had a passion for fashion and sometimes wished I had pursued a career in it.  I love fashion but I love a good deal even more.  Every girl likes her labels and I admit to splurging on things like an iconic designer handbag that you could literally have forever or a really nice coat or pair of jeans.  But for the most part I find fashion forward pieces for cheap and mix and match with some luxury items here and there.  The name of the game is to ‘Slay All Day’.

First and foremost, you need to FEEL good to LOOK good. It’s all about having confidence and projecting that to the world.  A woman once asked me ‘How are you so confident?’ It made me sad to know she wasn’t and had to ask that question.  It’s not something I think about, but rather something I am, all day every day. Yes, I get scared, worried, anxious and overwhelmed like the rest of us. But when I walk out that door, ain’t nobody messin’ with this chick.  Women are beautiful, intelligent, fierce and courageous human beings. You must believe in yourself before anyone else will believe in you.  We all have our strengths and weaknesses. Find the things you love about yourself the most and show that sh*t off ladies, but do it with class and sass.  Fashion should be a compliment to your personality, projecting the outward appearance of your inner badass, but remember that a smile is always the best accessory.

Put A Ring On It

It’s a strange feeling when you wear a ring on your finger everyday for 8 years and then one day you stop. I was constantly feeling for that ring, a beautiful one at that, for many months after first taking it off.  It hurt in so many ways to no longer feel it on my hand, symbolic of a love that once was and now gone.

Just recently I wanted to start wearing rings again, so I just bought this beauty from Fiyah, a British website that has some dope jewelry that I came across after @FIYAHJewellry started following me on Twitter. I love that with each piece they give a description of the meaning behind it. I chose the Plume feather ring since the feather ‘represents love, protection from evil and new beginnings.’

Blue Jean Baby, L.A. Lady

I felt like I could try something a little more fun out in L.A. so I embraced the bralette trend sweeping the nation.  I paired a pale turquoise one with a sheer top and jeans, so as not to expose too much skin. End result was perfect for a day of dancing at the park.

A night out on the town in San Francisco calls for jeans, flats and my go-to black leather jacket from H&M. I spiced it up a bit with a black and gold sequined top. And we just happened to stumble upon this oversized gold chair with a furry blanket draped across it, so of course it made for the perfect photo op.

Black Thigh High Suede Boots by Catherine Malandrino but got them for $25 at Marshall’s. Even the cashier said they were the steal of the year. Marshall’s can be hit or miss but if you take the time to look around you can find lots of diamonds in the rough http://www.marshallsonline.com/

Necklace and Bracelets by Stella & Dot, one of my fave spots for jewelry.  Reasonably priced and good quality.
